If you want to use whitening toothpastes, don't forget to test if it still contains fluoride and other ingredients that fight and stop plaque and tartar.

Nonetheless a lot of bleaching toothpaste users claim that these bleaching products didn't really do much in changing the colour of their teeth. The yellowing of the teeth is basically a natural phenomenon. As a person becomes older, his or her teeth becomes yellowish.

If you are not satisfied with the color of your teeth, the best way is to visit your dentist first and consult him or her about your quandary. Your dentist will tell you about the efficacy of over-counter-products or they may even offer to give you professional treatment.

Most celebrities really wish to bear professional teeth bleaching treatment because that way, their unique wants can be met. Be careful in buying over-the-counter teeth lightening products because a few of these may contain bleaching agents that can basically damage your mouth and gums.

In addition to that, do implement the instructions exactly to avoid experiencing negative side-effects.

The Teeth's Nemesis:

Sugar. Maybe everyone has gone thru a stage in their adolescence when they might consistently hear their elders alert them about the evils of eating too much sweet sweets and candies. And those cautions are true indeed; eating sweet sweets and candies is a major reason for tooth decay.

Nonetheless it may be beneficial for you to understand that its not only about the amount of sugar that you eat - it also involves when and how you eat sugary stuffs that decide the healthiness of your teeth.

When you drink sodas or eat sugary foods during the day, the enamel of your teeth becomes continually exposed to acids. Cough drops, hard candies, and breath mints are only some examples of the dangerous sugary candy that melt in your mouth slowly.

Dental executives and experts suggest a 3-hour break between taking food and drinks that contain sugar. Starchy or sweet foods eaten with a complete meal is alleged to be less harmful to the teeth compared to being eaten alone as the increased production of saliva helps wash away the bacteria and sugar.

Eating sweet and sugary foods before sleeping is maybe the most damaging thing one can do to his or her teeth because one doesn't produce a lot of spit when he or she is asleep.

If you would like to have a healthy set of teeth yet you can't seem to cut out candy from your diet, you can try some of these tips to help you achieve your goal: eat carbohydrates with a meal, brush your teeth directly after eating, rinse your mouth comprehensively with mouthwash or water, gnaw sugarless gum, don't eat sugary foods and candy between meals, eat non-sugary foods (cheese, popcorn, yogurt, raw vegetables) as nibbles.

In a nutshell, achieving and maintaining a good set of teeth may not be as straightforward as 123 but with enough backbone and commitment to your personal dental care routine, you will surely have the smile that you've been needing since then.

About the Author:

Liam Snow is an author on oral health issues. In order to eliminate both of these problems, you need to make sure to brush your teeth and your tongue at least twice a day (preferably after every meal too). If you fail to observe this best practice, weak points in the protective enamel that surrounds your teeth will begin to form, and the bacteria will begin to erode through the tooth. Eventually, you'll have cavities. Using the best electric toothbrush that you can possibly find is the most vital step to take in the fight against plaque bacteria.

Serious oral health difficulties can arise from these cavities, including halitosis (otherwise known as bad breath). If you allow your teeth's enamel to be eaten away and the bacteria to get inside your teeth, it's not possible to get rid of it easily, and bad breath can't be stopped

An important weapon in the fight against bacteria is fluoride. You need to purchase a toothpaste and mouthwash that includes this crucial ingredient. Drinking water that includes a fluoride additive is also a great thing to do. Your dentist can also provide special fluoride products such as drops and tablets which can help to stop the spread of bacteria in severe cases.

Every one of these products can be a valuable asset in the fight against cavities, however if cavities have already begun to appear they won't be able to help. If this has happened you have no choice but to seek dental treatment at your earliest opportunity. Even if the cavity is small it will eventually get bigger, and if you don't get it treated the bacteria will eventually make its way to the root and infect the pulp underneath. Once this has happened, aa dental abscess is likely to appear and along with it harsh pain. What this means in practice is that you won't be able to avoid bad breath as the bad smell from the infected pus will be impossible to get rid of.

If you visit a dentist in time, a simple drilling an amalgam is all your will need to fix the cavitiy and stop the bad breath.

About the Author:

If you enjoyed this article, do remember to take a look at our website, there you'll discover even more tips to help you avoid the dentist chair. In order for you to stop cavities and maintain a healthy set of teeth, you need to get rid of plaque, a clear layer of bacteria that stays on the surface of your teeth.

Some effective paths to stop plaque from forming is to comb your teeth at least twice a day and floss at least one time a day. Brushing your teeth will help excite your gums and in turn keep them healthy and less susceptible to gum illnesses.

Choose The Right Toothpaste. Toothpastes are often made of detergents, abrasives and frothing agents. The most common important component in toothpaste is fluoride. Fluoride is the component of the toothpaste that's accountable for stopping cavities from forming.

When selecting what toothpaste to buy, ensure that it has a significant amount of fluoride to keep your mouth cavity-free. Studies say that 1 out of 10 folks tends to accrue tartar quickly. What is tartar? It's really plaque that is hard to remove and damaging as it is already in toughened form.

There are anti-tartar toothpastes and mouthwashes available in the current market which can help stop tartar formation. Another excellent tip for forestalling the formation of tartar is brushing the teeth found close to the salivary glands.

For people that appear to have teeth which are receptive to pressure, cold and heat, there are toothpastes specially made for sensitive teeth.

Nonetheless a trip to the dentist may be most appropriate so that the dentist can appraise whether the sensitivity of the teeth could well lead to a big problem such as nerve redness or severe cavity.

Learn How To Floss. Although brushing is thought to be the most important part in the personal dental care routine, it doesn't actually have the ability to take away the plaque and fragments of food between the teeth, under the gum line or within braces.

A dental floss is the weapon to get shot of the abovementioned teeth and mouth "pests". Flossing can be done one or more times a day.

There are actually different types of flosses and these rely on the space that somebody has between their teeth. Most dentists would generally suggest unwaxed floss because it is better to glide through narrow spaces.

However , up to date studies have discovered that there's essentially no serious difference in the effectiveness among the different types of dental flosses. When flossing your teeth, you should be very careful so you can avoid wounding your gums.

Remember, gums are very delicate and they can bleed readily. Never force the floss under the gums; just curve the floss around the edge of your tooth and form a letter "c" then glide the floss up and down the side of each tooth. Remember to floss the back sides of your teeth too.

All in all, sorting out your very own personal dental care routine can be straightforward, as long as you have enough eagerness and determination to achieve a great set of pearly whites.

If you are one of many folk who don't truly give much attention to your teeth, don't wait until you experience terrible dental-related problems like toothache, bad breath (halitosis) or bleeding gums.

About the Author:

Liam Snow is an author on oral health issues. Sure it can make social situations awkward, but it also can be the body's way of warning us that something else is going on; something abnormal. For this reason, it becomes so important to understand the underlying causes of bad breath to see if it is masking a deeper problem.

Bad breath, medically termed halitosis, can be the result of a multitude of factors and derive its origin from several places within the body. The most common location for halitosis origination is in the mouth. Because food is ingested here first, the mouth becomes a type of catch-all for the bacteria that can be present on food. When food begins the mastication process, small bits can get lodged in the crevices of the tongue where bacteria will then begin to grow. This bacterial growth from food particles may be found on the indentations of the tongue, in the cracks of the gums, or in between teeth, which leads to the odorous result of bad breath.

Bad breath does not only come from the mouth but also from the nose as well. Individuals with halitosis may notice bad breath exiting from the nasal passages or nostril cavity. Usually this second source of bad breath is due to infections of the sinus or nasal passage obstructions that results in an odorous discharge.

Chronic halitosis, or a constant problem with bad breath, should not be taken lightly. As aforementioned, it could be a warning sign provided by your body that something more serious is occurring. Consult a healthcare provider or a physician if you are suffering from this disorder and make sure to take preventive steps in the fight against this annoying culprit. Regularly brush your teeth, tongue, and gums as well as floss. This can help cleanse the oral cavity where most bad breath originates. Such knowledge will help you in avoiding those awkward situations and get you on the path to feeling more confident and healthy!

About the Author:

Want to find out more about bad breath, then visit Kingsley Jones's site on how to choose the best bad breath remedies for your needs.

You can find out more about lots more by visiting my www.cure-badbreath.com

M. So I wondered what "up to" really means and according to whom? Might I be right in suspecting that the research was paid for by a mouthwash manufacturer needing to boost their sales of mouthwash?

Bad breath can damage your confidence and in more unusual cases, cause depression. I'm sorry if this has happened to you but it doesn't need to be from this point on if you follow our simple suggestions. First you need to understand that all you are told is probably not true!

3 common myths

Myth 1: Mouthwash will help your bad breath go away.

Commercial mouthwashes are sold to us with the impossible promise that they'll exterminate oral bacteria and freshen the mouth. Wrong!.

Many mouthwashes use a protein precipitating agent (PPA) that stops bacteria from making use of particles of food in the mouth. (This is how bad breath starts). At the same time this PPA triggers mucus activity which results in a dirtier mouth, in turn feeding other bacteria to produce bad breath. Never use a mouthwash containing PPA.

Once you've used a commercial mouthwash, a new plaque buildup will occur within hours. This in turn becomes a magnet for bacteria that cause bad breath.

If you really like the person you are going out with on a date and you want to make a good impression, it's become quite normal to use a mouthwash when you're getting ready. The trouble is that mouthwash will work for the early part of the evening, but when it comes to that goodnight kiss, it'll have worn off with potentially disastrous results. Instead of depending on mouthwash, find out the reason for your bad breath and eliminate that.

By far the best mouthwash is your saliva. Fresh clean saliva will only kill the bacteria that do not belong in your mouth without damaging the goodbacteria that are there to protect it.

Myth 2 : So long as you brush your teeth regularly you won't get bad breath.

Cleaning your teeth for 45 seconds every morning will just hide the problem. To clean all the surfaces of your teeth properly, you must brush for a minimum of 3 minutes at least twice each day. It's truly worth getting into this habit.

Myth 3: Dragon breath cannot be cured only masked

To eliminate bad breath once and for all, you have got to discover what's causing it. Most bad breath remedies are useless. Once you've found what kills your particular bacteria-producing bad breath, stick to this routine to stop it from coming back. Once you have started to get results you'll be reassured by noticeable improvements as you progress.

Momentarily masking your bad breath with sprays, chewing gum and mints may seem fine for the first hour or so but the truth is the problem then becomes much worse. The sugary ingredients create an environment for bad bacteria to flourish once more in your mouth.

What about using antibiotics?

Although the presence of bad bacteria will be affecting the quality of your breath, they're not infectious disease-causing organisms. They're meant to be there! They have just grown a bit beyond control.

Unfortunately antibiotics eliminate good and bad bacteria. The bacteria in your mouth will vanish but just for one or two days. As you repeat this cycle, a more resistant strain of bacteria will replace them and your problem will begin again

Tips to stop bad breath or halitosis immediately

- try to cut down, or cut out alcohol, coffee, high-protein foods and alcohol-based mouthwashes.

- drink more water, particularly if you're on medication.

- clean your tongue right to the back with a tongue scraper, the edge of a spoon or even the bristles of your toothbrush. Brush in one direction, from the back to the front and use plenty of water to make sure the 'muck'' on your tongue is properly washed away.

Weapons of Plaque Destruction (the best suggestions of all)

- use Blotting Brushes (or the MiniBlot), a toothpaste-free toothbrush that cleans your teeth and gums better than anything else on the market today.

- use a Hydrogen Peroxide mouthwash

About the Author:

From a family of Clydeside Scots, Graeme was born and
brought up in Hong Kong. Not only do these short-term remedies for bad breath do not treat the cause of bad breath, can not fail only when they need it most.
So what's the big problem here and honestly why should we so concerned about bad breath anyway? Since bad breath can literally ruin your life or severely limit your potential!

Here are just a few of the social situations where bad breath can spell total disaster: job interview, business meeting, any social interaction at work, on a date, any first impression. Bad breath isn't just an inconvenience-it's literally a liability that can cost you that big promotion, prevent you from getting a job, etc. And spending $ 5-10 every week on short term bad breath remedies is just like throwing your money away.

Fortunately, bad breath treatment bad breath for most of the problems caused by bacteria that live in the mouth caused, very much. The average human mouth is literally infested with bacteria. Aerobic bacteria (which is your health and prosperity in a favorable environment for oxygen-income), anaerobic bacteria thrive in oxygen-poor environment: literally hundreds of different types of bacteria that live in the mouth where they can be divided into two main categories.

Anaerobic bacteria are responsible for up to 90% of all bad breath problems and produce waste products known as sulfur compounds. These compounds produce the foul odor associated with halitosis. Most bad breath remedies on the market today are designed to kill off these anaerobic bacteria using a variety of chemicals, including:

* Oxychlorine

* Chlorine Dioxide

* Zinc and compounds

* Alcohol or other similar antiseptics

Unfortunately, these chemicals and preservatives can temporarily kill anaerobic bacteria, they also tend to lead to dehydration. It is rich in oxygen, it is difficult to reproduce for bacteria, saliva is a natural defense against anaerobic bacteria in your body. Therefore, all solutions of corrosive chemicals are bad breath, bad breath may be temporarily reduced by dehydration, it may even exacerbate the problem.

To cure bad breath effectively, you need to control the anaerobic bacteria without using harsh chemicals that dehydrate your body and rob it of saliva. One of the quickest, cheapest, and simplest ways to permanently cure bad breath is to make your very own mouthwash using all-natural ingredients that kill anaerobic bacteria-and you can do so for around $ 1 and have enough mouthwash to last all month!

Another simple and effective solution to bad breath is to "starve" anaerobic bacteria. It is true, microbes feed on the left smelly tiny particles of food in the mouth after eating? So, of course, reduce the number, just brush and rinse after every meal or snack.

Finally, small changes in your diet can also play an important role in eliminating the problem of bad breath permanently. Caffeine, alcohol and food / beverage synthetic ingredients can cause dehydration. To cure bad breath is not an urban legend that it is very possible to put an end to the problem of bad breath without spending a fortune or wait weeks to see results.

About the Author:

Looking to find the best deal on bad breath, then visit www.freebadbreathremedies.com to find the best advice on bad breath remedies for you.

You can find out more about lots more by visiting my www.cure-badbreath.com

M. You'll now start to receive UNIQUE articles that match your selected categories, up to the "daily maximum limit" you set.

If you no longer wish to receive articles, or you wish to change the maximum number of articles you receive each day, simply update your preferences in the UAW Control Panel.

If you have any questions, please check the plugin FAQ or contact us at the helpdesk.

Also check to see if you have enabled the special UAW link so that your readers can get their own unique version of this articles, thereby preventing you from suffering from the duplicate content filters. Look at the bottom of this article to see if this link is activated or not. Without that link people will simply copy the article directly from your site, which means they will be posting content that is a duplicate of yours. If their site happens to have higher rankings than yours, then your site will suffer from the duplicate filters.

The Wizard's guide to "Powerful Article Marketing"!

If the link is activated, you can also earn 20% recurring commissions on any UAW signups resulting from people clicking on that link. All of the herbs are available at your local grocery store or farmers market. I have to tell you that I have tried their recommendations and they do work. So would I recommend this over my usual rantings about Therabreath products? Yes. Herbal remedies for bad breath are usually best. But the downside is that they don't work for everyone. And if herbs for bad breath don't work for you, then I absolutely throw my weight behind Therabreath!

Now enjoy the read.

Alexa
www.cure-badbreath.com

From Newindpress.com

Chennai, India NEW DELHI

Bad breath can be a serious cause of embarrassment in social circles. Some people with bad breath are not even aware it.

Bad breath or 'Halitosis' is caused by odour-producing bacteria that grow in the mouth due to various reasons including dirty teeth, digestion problems and smoking. The sulphur compounds released by the bacteria results in bad breath.

Certain foods, especially garlic and onions, can contribute to bad breath because they contain pungent oils that are carried to your lungs, which are out through your mouth.
Mints, mouthwashes and other products help control bad breath, only temporarily. Certain herbal preparations are known to have a lasting effect.

Parsley (Prajmoda) mouthwash is a very effective remedy for bad breath. Coarsely chopped parsley sprigs and two or three whole cloves or quarter tablespoon ground cloves are boiled in two cups of water.

This mixture is stirred frequently while cooling. It is strained and can be used as a mouthwash or gargle several times a day.

Oral hygiene is an essential element of keeping breath fresh. Basil (Tulsi) leaves can be chewed to cure mouth ulcers and infections.

Powder obtained by drying the basil leaves in the sun can be mixed in mustard oil to make a toothpaste. It is effective in maintaining dental health, countering bad breath and for massaging the gums. It is also useful in Pyorrhoea and other teeth disorders.

Tea made from fenugreek seeds (Methi) is beneficial in bad breath and body odour. Unpleasant odours emanate from the body due to accumulation of hardened mucus and other toxins in the nasal and oral passages, gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract, blood and vagina.

Fenugreek seeds moistened with water become slightly mucilaginous and help to dissolve sticky substances like mucus. Fenugreek tea taken regularly helps remove accumulations from these spots where mouthwash and soap can never penetrate.

While, Cinnamon (Dalchini) serves as a good mouth freshener, the aromatic flavoured Cardamom (Chhoti Elaichi) seeds can be chewed for a brief period to remove foul smell.
Dill (Sowa) seeds can also be chewed to cure bad breath. Caraway seed (Siya Jeera) oil is used orally in overcoming bad breath or insipid taste.
You can find out more about lots more by visiting my www.cure-badbreath.com

M. And especially when the advice is from someone that I respect. In this case, from Dr. Harold Katz, the creator of Therabreath products.

You can read more about him at Therabreath Fresh Breath Products. And, as we get older, our breath gets worse. Many people have breath that's so unpleasant they go to their doctor, dentist or pharmacist for help. But often you can solve the problem on your own. Just remember most problems are caused by dry mouth.

So what can you do to keep your breath fresh? Dr. Harold Katz, a dentist and founder of the California Breath Clinics, has seven suggestions:

1. Brush your teeth for two minutes. Most people only brush for 13 seconds. That's not nearly long enough.

2. Drink 6 to 8 glasses of water each day. This helps replenish oxygen-rich saliva. Oxygen kills bacteria.

3. Avoid alcohol. It dries out the mouth. Also be aware that many drugs, from antidepressants to antihistamines, produce bad breath as a side-effect.

4. Be careful with dairy products, especially cheeses. They are easily converted into sculpture compounds by bacteria.

5. Limit your intake of coffee and other acidic drinks such as tomato and other citrus juices. Acid makes bacteria reproduce faster. Tea is a better choice when it comes to your breath.

6. Floss twice a day and make sure you get into all the little crevices that can be breeding grounds for bacteria. And don't forget to clean your tongue. You can buy a tongue cleaning tool, but be sure to use it gently.

7. An important way to avoid dry mouth is to breathe through your nose, not your mouth.
You can find out more about lots more by visiting my www.cure-badbreath.com

M. Some people avoid offensive foods and drinks, chew gum, use mouth rinses, or eat mints to mask unpleasant odor. Others cannot escape bad breath quite so easily. At least 40 million Americans suffer from halitosis. Unfortunately, there is no standard treatment for it.

According to a study in the September/October issue of General Dentistry, the Academy of General Dentistry’s (AGD) clinical, peer-reviewed journal, halitosis is a term used to describe any disagreeable odor of expired air. Bad breath is a generally accepted term for foul smells emanating from the mouth. Oral malodor is a term reserved for unpleasant smells originating from the oral cavity. "A common reason for bad breath is post-nasal drip, which coats the back area of the tongue with bacteria-rich mucous," says AGD spokesperson, June Lee, DDS, MAGD.

"A tongue scraper is often effective in relieving oral malodor caused by sinus drainage."
The study reviewed literature examining the effects of using tongue scrapers to brush the tongue, rather than using a toothbrush to scrape the tongue. Data revealed that a tongue cleaner/scraper demonstrated a significant difference in reducing volatile sulfur compounds (VSC) levels, which are produced when bacteria and amino acids interact to produce bad breath.
Though there is no standard treatment, bacteria-causing halitosis can be reduced by brushing or scraping the middle and back of the tongue. Tongue scraping can lower VSC concentration, subsequently reducing oral malodor. However, that reduction is only short-term, and not an absolute solution for eliminating malodor. The authors of the General Dentistry article feel that future research is necessary to determine what role undetected odorants may play in oral malodor, as well as more well designed, randomized clinical trials to compare the effectiveness of tongue scrapers, toothbrushes, and mouth rinses on reducing VSC levels.

Despite the short-term reduction, Dr. Lee feels that tongue scrapers are a good tool for the short-term. "Tongue cleaners and scrapers are straightforward and comfortable to use, easy to transport, and inexpensively priced. Cleaning the tongue is quickly and easily accomplished. Everyone from children to elders should be able to incorporate this technique into their oral care regimen."

Bad breath basics:

Halitosis is a general term used to describe any disagreeable odor of expired air, regardless of its origin.

Bad breath is a generally accepted term for foul smells emanating from the mouth.
Oral malodor is a term reserved for halitosis originating from the oral cavity.

You can find out more about lots more by visiting my www.cure-badbreath.com

M. I love it!

Read the article. Enjoy the rest of the weekend and let's get ready for a great week.

Alexa

==========================================

From : Health24.com - Cape Town, South Africa

George Orwell said: You can have an affection for a murderer or a sodomite, but you cannot have an affection for a man whose breath stinks. Needless to say, getting a second date when you brandish bad breath on the first one is unlikely.

Garlic, booze and food can create a pungent potpourri that can stun a dentist at 40 paces. Either way, your love life will suffer.

And except for that Danish student you met while backpacking through Normandy, everyone wakes up with so-called morning breath. But what can you do about it?

Constipation

It's been suggested that halitosis is an indication of poor health; that if you have constipation it'll manifest in bad breath.

It's also been claimed - fallaciously so, say doctors – that the odors in foods are carried in the bloodstream, where they pass into the lungs and onto the person's breath. This has been described as scientifically impossible.

The causes of halitosis are actually fairly simple, says Cape Town aesthetic dentist Dr Ilona Visser: "Bad breath can be traced to microbes in the mouth, especially at the back of the tongue, where the surface of the tongue is extremely rough, and between your teeth.

Dead and dying bacteria release an evil-smelling sulphur compound, and together with the odor of rotting food debris can result in a bacterial bouquet that is potent and distinctive, she explains.

Bad breath can also be the result of a throat infection, as well as a sign of gum disease. This is caused by plaque, the colorless, sticky film of bacteria that builds up on your teeth daily. The bacteria produce toxins that irritate the gums, causing gingivitis, or inflammation of the gums.

Gingivitis eventually damages the bone supporting the teeth, resulting in periodontitis or formation of spaces between the gums and the teeth.

Fight the foul funk

Here's a good rule of thumb: looking in a mirror, press gently against a bit of your gum between your teeth with a fingernail. The pressure will make the gum turn from pink to white as the blood is pushed out of the tissue. When you remove your fingernail the gum should immediately turn pink again.

If it stays pale, or if a bit of blood or yellow pus appears between tooth and gum, your gums aren't as healthy as they should be. If your gums bleed when you brush or floss, you should also be concerned, says Dr Visser.

She recommends that you start by gargling and rinsing your mouth out thoroughly with salty water. Combat bad breath by brushing and flossing morning and night.

If you suffer from persistent bad breath it may be the result of a medical problem not related to your mouth. Bad breath can also be the result of sinus trouble, lung infections or diabetes. If regular brushing doesn't doesn't help you should consult your dentist.
You can find out more about lots more by visiting my www.cure-badbreath.com

M. Not all of them are good for your health. The harmful bacteria lurk in between the teeth and cling to the gums. The majority of bad guys have a ball right on the surface of the tongue because the venue is big, warm, and has plenty of food.

The surface of the tongue is covered with minute projections (papillae), which give it a furred appearance. There are also numerous tiny grooves running across the surface. That is where bacteria huddle in large numbers. Bacteria feed on leftovers and dead cells. The harmful microorganisms attack teeth and gums and produce a typical foul smell, rotten egg-smelling gases or dragon mouth. The findings of several studies show that oral debris on the tongue is the root cause of bad breath in 85% of all cases.

Focus on the heart of the matter: run your tongue scraper from the root toward the tip of the tongue. The beasts are thought to behave themselves during the daytime since the majority of them are washed away by saliva rich in acids and oxygen. But things get ugly after dark. The decay process intensifies dramatically since the secretion of saliva drops by 50 times at night. That is why your mouth smells like a pigsty in the morning.

Some doctors recommend that you drink a glass of water right after waking up. They also advise that you take a closer look in your mouth at a regular basis. Those bastards tend to multiply like crazy in no time. The harmful bacteria are easy to see with the naked eye. Your tongue looks coated, especially at the root. Bacteria never accumulate on the front part of the tongue, which is always in contact with the palate.

You are strongly recommended to brush your tongue once you brushed your teeth. The cleansing of the tongue is required for removing bacteria, mucus and microscopic leftovers. It would be ideal if you could clean your tongue in the morning, at night and preferable after meals every day. Well, it is easier than it seems. Give it a try.

A regular toothbrush, preferably a soft one, would do the trick. Apply a few circular movements on the tongue, and dislodge the debris by sweeping it off. Do not put too much pressure while running your toothbrush. The tongue’s tissues are quite vulnerable. At the beginning you can feel like dropping your cookies around the place, especially if you are a smoker. But your system is likely to get used to mechanical tongue brushing in a short while. You can gradually start using toothpaste for brushing your tongue.

Alternatively, you can purchase a special brush for tongue cleansing. The shape of it is more rounded, and its bristles are short and soft. It often comes with a tube of antibacterial gel, which should be used like common toothpaste. Rinse your mouth after brushing the tongue. Refrain from eating for 10 minutes so that the environment of oral cavity may be kept intact.

A special spoon for tongue cleansing is equally effective. It can be purchased in a drugstore. A common teaspoon is another option. Scraping should be done in a regular fashion, from the root toward the tip of the tongue.

The following berry and herb infusions are good for rinsing the mouth after a tongue cleansing session: raspberry, plantain, nettle, and dandelion. You can also use freshly squeezed cabbage, carrot, and lemon juices distilled with water. I hope that you are having a nice autumn day. When I saw this article, I thought you would appreciate it. Apparently, a music teacher has had just enough of children with bad breath.

By the way, I wrote an article recently about how to deal with bad breath in children. Check it out at http://www.cure-badbreath.com/articles/article/3091130/55727.htm

Enjoy the article below.

Alexa

From The Star Online: When Little Angels Stink

Saturday, September 23, 2006
By BONNIE LEE

I'M A music teacher. One day I had an eight-year-old come in for her first lesson. She dressed as if she was in the movie Disney Princesses and she had a smile that melted my heart.

I smiled back and beckoned her to sit next to me on the piano bench.

She sat and I patted her before asking for her name. But the minute she opened her little mouth, I felt like a stink bomb had been released. I thought, Dear me, this little angel has halitosis?

It wasn't a happy thought because I would have to coach her to sing and play her first do-re-mi over the next hour.

This was one occupational hazard I didn't quite expect from teaching. I had imagined that I would have to nag, Practice makes perfect" unendingly; little did I realise that my nose would have to put up with such abuse.

As a teacher, I meet kids from all ages, shapes and sizes and, believe me, they come in a variety of smells too. Olfactory repulsion comes in all forms bad breath, sweaty armpits, oily scalps, BO and, woe betide, flatulence!

I once asked, Gee, what's that sound and smell? and the student coolly replied, My fragrant fart!
Occasionally, the smell of dead rodent can be traced to a harmless-looking bag that has never known what detergent meant.

Often I have to stand close to a student's head, and if it stinks, I try to ask as casually possible, Bathe already or not?(after the customary Eat already?, only to begat this: Whole day got tuition, computer lesson, then piano lesson, where got time to bathe?

I then nod sympathetically and start to breathe through my mouth.

On hot days, a student might walk in smelling like a skunk. But though their armpits may reek of bottled sweat and their heads may stink like fermented Chinese cabbage, I cannot bring myself to tell them so. I can only hope that wearing a nose mask will soon become the next big fashion statement.

Some students do have good personal hygiene but this is little help when their growing bodies go haywire. I can't fault biological changes since I was once a teenager too.

I have tried to combat the odours with room fragrance but the smell of so-called "forest breeze" is as fake as plastic fir.

By the end of the day, my nose would get so confused it could no longer distinguish between the smell of a grilled sirloin and puppy poo.

Since I'm sensitivity to how others smell, I take great responsibility to ensure that I myself smell pleasant. Once known as the Durian Queen, I have now abstained from that thorny delight. Even my favourite sambal petai has had to be dropped from my diet.

Incidentally, my worst nightmare came about one day when my daughter, returning from school, gave me a peck. I caught a whiff of something that made me behave like an airport search dog, sniffing and snorting all over her.

Oh no! You've got bad breath! I looked for her water bottle and, to my chagrin, found it was still full. I asked, Why didn't you drink your water?

Mum, water makes me wanna pee! I hate the school toilet. It stinks!

But now your mouth stinks!

Thanks to her, I am learning to accept that unpleasant smells are a part of growing up.

Nowadays, I ask that my students to drink lots of water in class, get them to wash their hands and face if they have come in from the sun. And of course, there's a bowl of peppermint sweets at the counter.

So dear kids, now that the cat's out of the bag, please do your teacher a favour.

Freshen up before turning up for piano lessons.
You can find out more about lots more by visiting my www.cure-badbreath.com

M. Well imagine my suprise when I read the article below. I found it yesterday as story from the Manila Standard Today. Wow! I wonder if celebrities hear would go for such?

The point is that Listerine has shown to be a great money maker for it creator, but not such a great product to fight bad breath. I guess the only way to keep pushing it is to use celebrities!

If you are interested in finding out what has worked for me in the past, click here and to to Bad Breath Products on my website www.Cure-BadBreath.com. Trust me, I only post products that work!

Here is the article from the Manila Standard Today by By Isah V. Red

Celebrities need mouthwash daily

A celebrity with bad breath… that’s a big turn off. So, celebrities should be conscious of how they smell.

Sports idol-turned commercial endorser Vince Hizon and his sportscaster/wife, Patricia Bermudez, television host Paolo Abrera and theater actress/VJ Karel Marquez have one thing in common: They have all been using Listerine for their daily oral hygiene. And because they trust Listerine, they have all agreed to be part of Listerine’s ‘‘Mission to Mouth.’’

Paolo quips: “It is very important to feel good all the time. The key word is confidence. If you are not confident it sort of shows on the outside.”

Karel agrees: “As celebrities, we are always in the public eye. Reporters hound us for interviews. People look up to us as role models—myself being a theater actress and a VJ, image is very, very important.’’

“And we need to protect our image by staying healthy and fit. One lapse and we’re out of the biz. You probably wouldn’t write good articles about a celebrity with bad breath. That’s a matter best taken up in the blind items,” adds Paolo.

To Vince, however, proper oral hygiene is more than just a matter of image. “Being healthy means looking good outside and feeling great inside. Oral hygiene should not be neglected, since poor oral health may lead to other diseases. The best way of preventing plaque, gingivitis and bad breath is to have a good defense. With complete oral hygiene regimen, which includes a strong and effective mouthwash, you’ve got things covered.”

Patricia connects the importance of the Listerine habit to her family: “ Since Vince and I already have a kid, we are very conscious of our hygiene. We want our kid to take after us in terms of proper hygiene.”

Patricia’s comments were validated by Dr. Jesus Randy Canal, Southeast Asia-Medical/research and development area manager of Pfizer’s consumer healthcare department, who said: “We want to inculcate in consumers the habit of using a mouthwash and make it a part of their daily oral care regimen.”

Paolo stresses: “Changing clothes, taking a bath and brushing one’s teeth are basics of good hygiene. But when it comes to the mouth, basic is not enough because germs can be resilient. I used to think that brushing was enough to maintain good oral hygiene. I know now that brushing alone is not enough to eliminate mouth germs. I joined this mission to educate others who might still be in my previous mindset that brushing alone is enough. It is not.”

Together with Capt Listerine and Lt. Lisa, the four celebrities have embarked on Listerine’s Mission to Mouth campaign. These proactive individuals have joined forces to tell consumers to go where no toothbrush has gone before! Brushing alone is not enough. Use Listerine to guarantee the best in oral health care as Listerine alone can penetrate the hard-to-reach areas of the mouth that brushing and flossing alone cannot reach. Celebrate good oral hygiene. Make Listerine a daily habit.
You can find out more about lots more by visiting my www.cure-badbreath.com

M. These days the number of breath fresheners in check out lines practically outweigh the number of candy bars, but we all know that mints and gums just cover up bad breath, and they don't last long. But, what you eat can make a big difference – and I'm not just talking about avoiding garlic. I've got 5 foods that are both good for you and your breath:

1) Yogurt. Bad breath is caused mostly by bacteria and a recent study found that eating one serving of yogurt with live active cultures reduced the amount of bacteria in the mouth. It also reduced plaque and gum disease.

2) Apples, especially tart ones like Granny Smiths. If you've ever bitten into an apple, you know how it makes your mouth water. When those juices are flowing, food particles and bacteria are washed away!

3) Red peppers and

4) citrus fruits – both are high in vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid. Vitamin C creates an environment that doesn't allow bacteria to grow and it keeps gums healthy.

5) And finally, fresh herbs. Instead of gum, chew on a sprig of fresh mint or parsley. They're a lot more potent than mint flavored gum and they're loaded with disease fighting compounds.
WTSP-TV Tampa
You can find out more about lots more by visiting my www.cure-badbreath.com

M. I have to find it again so I can share it with you. But the subject of the article was a young man who liked a young girl but could not stand her smelly breath. The worst part of the article was the fact that he would never tell her why he would not see her again. He would just avoid her.

My heart broke. I am sure that I have been that young girl, but I will never know how many times. I guess I knew my breath smelled sometimes, but I did not know how bad. And I did not know that it was chasing people away from me.

Of course, as I aged. I wised up and did something about it. But it doesn't take away the embarassment. The feeling of rejection, even though I now know why.

How many of us suffer in silence because there is no one to talk to? Your dentist is a great specialist to treat the physical problem. But who is there to help you through the emotional stress. Who is there to keep you on track and committed to creating new habits that will transform your breath AND your life?

I have to work out the details but I believe that I will be that person who can be there for you. Together we can conquer bad breath.

Should I call myself the bad breath coach or the fresh breath coach?

Either way, you will be hearing more about my new idea very soon.

Alexa
You can find out more about lots more by visiting my www.cure-badbreath.com

M. I cannot believe that I missed the day. Especially after I had a lovely phone conversation with Carol Meyers, the lovely lady and founder of National Fresh Breath Day on August 6th. We spoke several months back when I was planning to launch my www.cure-badbreath.com website.

Here is what she told me about why she founded National Fresh Breath Day:

"National Fresh Breath Day is designed to bring attention to the
importance of fresh breath as an integral part of one’s overall health and
wellness. NFBD is the first recognition day celebrating fresh breath and
1997 was the first year it was celebrated. The day is celebrated on August 6th,
during National Smile Month.

As a registered Dental Hygienist, a professional Image Consultant, author, and president of PBC - Personal Breath Consultants, Inc, Carol was very helpful in providing me with feedback on my website and also allowing me to reprint several of her articles. I have two of her articles on my bad breath website:

1. The Forgotten Key to Oral Health
2. How to Keep a Fresh Breath Smile

Both of the articles are very well written, so click and take and discover her secrets.

In the meantime, I will reach out to her again to see if we can get some time with her to speak with us or to be host on our Fresh Breath Discussion Forum.

What do you think?

Alexa
You can find out more about lots more by visiting my www.cure-badbreath.com

M. Are you doing things differently that you would prefer? Are you more self conscious? Do you keep yourself away from others for fear of rejection?

I will tell you that for years, bad breath kept me isolated. At a distance. It made me an observer of life, rather than a participant. I was lonely, even when I was around people. Why? Because I was suffering. Bad breath was a physical afflication that impacted me emotionally and socially.

No one deserves to live this way. No one deserves to suffer in silence. That is why I have made it my mission to educate others about bad breath and to recommend viable solutions.

So if you think that I have been too hyped up about Dr. Katz's Therabreath products, then you should know that I am an avid user and believer.

You deserve to be free of bad breath. Yes, some work. But most Do Not. And there are too many promises of overnight success. Dr. Katz offers a system that works. No promises of quick success. And he does offer a satisfaction guarantee. All you have to do is cover the shipping costs. Isn't it time that you try something that could solve your bad breath?

I copied his Q&A for you to see his straightforward practical advice.

Click here to find out more information about the TheraBreath Free Trial to Treat Bad Breath.

Is TheraBreath safe for people of all ages?

Yes. TheraBreath is safe for children and adults.

Can I still use my regular toothpaste and mouthwash if I use TheraBreath?

Absolutely not. Almost all commercial toothpastes contain Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SOAP), placed in toothpaste in order to create a foaming action, so that you think that something is actually happening. It has no beneficial effects at all. Unfortunately, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate will also inhibit the potency of the active ingredients. That is why those who use TheraBreath Toothpaste should read the ingredients in their commercial toothpaste - it contains Sodium Lauryl Sulfate!

Furthermore, almost all mouthwashes contain alcohol. And as you know, alcohol makes the mouth drier which will then make your breath and taste worse. This will negate the benefits of the oxidation process. TheraBreath Oral Rinse and Toothpaste were designed to replace all of those old-fashioned 19th century formulas that make your mouth dry.

Can I use your products even if I had some work done to my teeth?

Most definitely. TheraBreath is kind to tooth enamel, porcelain, etc. Actually, it is also beneficial to damaged oral tissue.

If I run out of TheraBreath Oral Rinse and Toothpaste, is theresomething I can use that will help until I can get more?

It’s sad to say this... but probably not. And it’s because of the alcohol in the mouthwash and the detergent in the toothpaste. What’s even sadder is that Crest now makes a toothpaste that combines detergent and alcohol... why? Just for the taste! I recommend that you rinse with warm salt water and brush with baking soda.

Once I start, do I have to do this treatment for the rest of my life?

The only way to effectively stop these bacteria from producing these Volatile Sulfur Compounds (VSC's) is to use an OXYD-8 based product. No other compounds will perform this action. The bacteria reproduce every 10-12 hours and that is why the treatment must be done throughout the day. After several months, there is a residual effect, whereby the medication has a longer lasting feeling. Some patients are then able to get by with performing the procedure only twice daily. However, for the best results, most people perform the procedures three times daily.

Many patients use between 2-3 bottles of rinse per month. A large toothpaste lasts about 5-6 weeks. If you stop, the problems will come back again because the bacteria will recognize the difference within a few days. These products were designed to become your daily oral hygiene system. And now, with tooth whitening (TheraBrite) and periodontal treatments (PerioTherapy) as part of our entire system, you’ll never need to use any other products. By the way, most people spend less than $1 per day to maintain their TheraBreath fresh breath and taste.

Let me know what you think,

Alexa
You can find out more about lots more by visiting my www.cure-badbreath.com

M. But it has been a long week and I don't want today to go by without leaving a message. Unfortunately, my brain is sufficiently fried that I cannot speak on a serious level. So I will write about an article from today. I am disgusted and disappointed in where our society is heading. This is about more than bad breath, but it does include it. But before I get on my soapbox, let me stay focused....

But I do promise to continue dropping more bad breath tips after I get some rest. Maybe even tomorrow!

Here is a copy of the article here...basically if you are struggling with smoking and suffering from bad breath....this should make your jaw drop.

Reprinted from M&C News Aug 4, 2006, 23:14 GMT

In health crazy California, some stars buck the conventional wisdom and smoke anyway, despite the small matters of cancer, bad breath and that crazy accordion lip wrinkle thing.

Recently actress Melanie Griffith has caused a kerfluffle after being photographed actually lighting her 17-year-old daughter Dakota's cigarette in Los Angeles, where the legal age for smoking is 18. If you see an off-color area in the back of your tongue, you may have found a bad breath breeding ground. Now wipe your finger across the back of your tongue and blow on it. If it smells bad, chances are you have bad breath.

I just tried it, and guess what, my breath doesn’t smell so good. Tongue scraping twice a day is 50 percent more effective at eliminating bad breath than brushing alone and can actually increase taste sensitivity.

I never used a tongue scraper until my dentist recommended one. You think he could smell my bad breath?

<spacer type="block" width="8" height="8">
Tongue scrapers or cleaners, which are u-shaped devices made from plastic or stainless steel, have been around for years. They look like shaving razors without the sharp blades. They should be rinsed with hot water after each swipe of the tongue. Even more beneficial is storing them in a glass of antibacterial rinse.

Personally I prefer the disposable kind.

<spacer type="block" width="8" height="8">

Studies suggest that tongue cleaning should accompany brushing and flossing in order to achieve a truly cleansed oral cavity. Tongue cleaning removes most of the bacteria and other debris that are the primary sources of bad breath, tartar, and tooth decay.

I have learned to carry a brush, floss, a tooth picker, and a tongue cleaner with me every where I go. And guess what? Habit makes for great hygiene. It becomes second nature.

Tongue cleaning is comfortable, easy, and only takes 20-30 seconds. Rinsing with an anti-bacterial rinse should take place after the tongue is cleaned. Tongue cleaning is a chemical-free process and actually removes this gross stuff from your tongue, instead of masking it, like mints.

<spacer type="block" width="8" height="8">

In terms of oral health and halitosis (bad breath) treatment, there is no doubt that the bulk of the odor-causing bacteria in the mouth reside on the tongue. I used to just brush my tongue, but keep in mind that brushing the tongue does nothing but mash the bacteria and plaque deeper into the tongue without addressing the real problem. Don’t do it!

<spacer type="block" width="8" height="8">

Tongue cleaning removes a portion of bacteria remaining in the mouth after brushing and flossing. Using an antibacterial mouth rinse alone after brushing and flossing, although temporarily giving a sense of fresh breath, does not remove bacteria remaining on the tongue. However, a final rinse with an antibacterial product, after using a tongue scraper, usually puts a finishing touch on any remaining odor and is quite effective.

Give it a try. I think you will be happy with the results. You can find the tongue scrapers at your local pharmacy. No need to buy them online when they are readily available locally. But if you need me to refer you online, just drop me a line and I would be more than happy to assist. Just ask.

Enjoy,

Alexa

<spacer type="block" width="8" height="8">

Have You Used a Tongue Scrapper to Prevent Bad Breath?

You can find out more about lots more by visiting my www.cure-badbreath.com

M. And this hits home for me personally because of the dry mouth that I experience as a result of my chemotherapy. While my dentist raves about my dental hygiene - he gives me an A+ - I still have an extremely dry mouth due to the permanent damage from my cancer treatment.

Isn't it funny how the drugs that we need to save us, are the very ones that cause other serious problems, such as bad breath? Sorry, I am straying form my purpose. Anyway, I am new to cleaning my tongue to remove bad breath bacteria. But I understand how it works. So read the article. It is good.

And if you need somewhere to find out some more information about cleaning tongue to remove bad breath bacteria, check out http://www.cure-badbreath.com/bad_breath_oralhygiene.html.

I don't know about you, but when my bad breath was at its worst, I would have given anything to know all the little things to do that could help me overcome my bad breath!

Enjoy the article below.

Dr. St. Clair: Don't forget to clean your tongue
By Dr. J. Peter St. Clair/ BRIGHTER SMILES
Thursday, July 27, 2006

Stand in front of the mirror and try this simple test: Stick your tongue out as far as you can and say "ah."

If you see an off-color area at the back of your tongue, you've found a bad breath breeding ground. Try this second test: Wipe your finger across this area and then blow on your finger to dry it. Does it stink? So does your breath.

Bacteria live and thrive on the back of our tongues, and the only way to remove as much of the bacteria as possible is with a tongue scraper. Tongue scraping twice a day is 50 percent more effective at eliminating bad breath than brushing alone and can actually increase taste sensitivity.

Studies suggest that tongue cleaning should accompany brushing and flossing in order to achieve a truly cleansed oral cavity. Tongue cleaning removes most of the bacteria and other debris that are the primary sources of bad breath, tartar, and tooth decay.

Bacteria tend to set in amidst the teeth, gums, tongue, and surrounding oral membranes. It is impossible to remove all of the bacteria from the mouth, and even after a professional tooth and gum cleaning, bacteria will swarm back to these areas.

In terms of oral health and halitosis (bad breath) treatment, there is no doubt that the bulk of the odor-causing bacteria in the mouth reside on the tongue. Keep in mind that brushing the tongue does little more than mash the bacteria and plaque deeper into the tongue without addressing the real problem.

Tongue scrapers can be purchased at any local pharmacy and may even be given out at your dental office. Just ask.

Well that's it for today. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns. The writer, Lee Ostaszewski he talked about imagining a discussion between the stone heads at Mt. Rushmore. It is hilarious to me to think that he actually wrote this.

"...If you look closely, you can almost imagine President Theodore "Dick" Roosevelt's giant granite head saying to Abraham Lincoln, "Abe, that's some BLEEPING bad breath you got. Do the rest of us giant granite heads a favor and take a Tic Tac."

That's it for me today. Just a little light-hearted humor. If we can't laugh at ourselves, then maybe we are taking life too seriously. Don't you wish that you didn't care? But you do care, just like I do, don't you?

There are so many products and proposed treatments on the marketplace. And some of them are pretty good but how do you know who to trust? What are the steps that you need to take?

First, I recommend that the best cure for any ailment that you have comes from self education. Self knowledge. Your first job is to devour as much information as possible.

Second, you need to align yourself with experts that can provide more information specific to your personal situation.

Thirdly, be willing to try several different approaches until you find one that works best for you. Unfortunately, everyone's experience with bad breath is unique and different. There are so many factors involved, such as history, allergies, digestion of different types of food, etc.

At cure-badbreath.com, I am very happy to engage with you to help you. I just read an article about a Kiss Me Meter developed by SEJU Engineering.

SEJU is a Koren company that was established in 1991 in order to develop and manufacture parts and system used exclusively in the military. Until 1998, Seju exclusively produced military parts such as Small Size Electronic Explosive Detornator (EED), Self Destruct Fuze, Shock Sensor and Reserve Battery. In 1998 they expanded into the commercial marketplace and have an unchallenged position in the field of sensor and system.

Their stated mission is to become a leading company in the field of alcohol detection and in the field of gas detection. So I can see how they can apply their technology to the bad breath gas... It still seems funny to me.

I have copied the specifications from their website below....amazing and only for 39.95! I tried to copy a picture for you, but I am going to have to send you to their website http://www.sejumicron.com/eng/menu2_10.htm

I think you would be better off using Altoids or Orbit gum, both of which work just fine for me! Your saliva also naturally decreases at night which can allow the growth of harmful bacteria and plaque.

But if you have dry mouth all, or most of the time, it can be uncomfortable and can lead to serious health problems.

Symptoms Include?

• a sticky, dry feeling in the mouth
• problems with chewing, swallowing, tasting, or speaking
• halitosis/mouth odor
• a burning feeling in the mouth
• cracked lips
• a dry, irritated tongue
• mouth sores
• sleep interruptions due to thirst
• gum inflammation or infection in the mouth
• difficultly in wearing dentures/prosthesis

Non Oral Symptoms:

• dry throat
• dry nose
• changes in sense of smell
• heartburn
• dry or burning eyes
• constipation
• dry skin/scalp
• vaginal itching, dryness, history of fungal infections
• breathes through the mouth

What Causes Dry Mouth?

People get dry mouth when the glands in the mouth that make saliva are not working properly. Because of this, there might not be enough saliva to keep your mouth wet. There are several reasons why these your salivary glands might not work.

Examples:

• Side effects of medication. More than 400 medications can cause the salivary glands to make less saliva. As you get older, you tend to take more and more medications such as those for high blood pressure and depression.
• Disease. Some diseases affect the salivary glands. Sjogren's Syndrome, HIV/AIDS, diabetes, and Parkinson's disease can all cause dry mouth.
• Radiation therapy. The saliva glands can be damaged if they are exposed to radiation during cancer treatment.
• Chemotherapy. Drugs used to treat cancer can make the saliva thicker, causing the mouth to feel dry and also causing difficulties in speaking.
• Nerve damage. Injury to the head or neck can damage the nerves that tell salivary glands to make saliva.

Some people feel a dry mouth even if their salivary glands are working correctly. People with certain disorders, like Alzheimer's disease or those who have suffered a stroke, may not be able to feel wetness in their mouth and complain about a dry mouth.

Tips for Managing Dry Mouth

• If your dry mouth is caused by medicine, your physician might change your medicine or adjust the dose.
• Visit your dentist regularly for prophylatic maintenance. Request fluoride treatments.
• Maintain meticulous oral hygiene using SLS-free, fluoridated (Biotène Toothpaste)
• Moisten your mouth with Oralbalance. May be used under dental prostheses.
• Chew sugarless, enzymatic moisturing gum, Biotène Dental Gum.
• Avoid alcoholic, carbonated, citrus and caffeine-containing drinks.
• Apply lip lubricants or balms as required.
• Drink liquids with meals and use gravies, sauces, yogurt, broth, margarines, and mayonnaise to make food easier to swallow
• Puree foods or try soft foods like macaroni and cheese, stews, mashed potatoes, soup, scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, canned fruits and vegetables, yogurt and ice cream.
• Avoid dry foods such as cookies, toast and crackers, or soften them with liquids before eating.
• Carry a small water bottle so you can take frequent sips during the day.
• Suck sugarless hard candies (avoiding those with citric acid).
• Avoid overly salty foods.
• Avoid chewable vitamin C and acidic, sugared lozenges.

Click here for more information on how to treat bad breath.

Biotene for Dry Mouth Bad Breath
You can find out more about lots more by visiting my www.cure-badbreath.com

M. Everyday, I find new tools to help me keep me close to you. I just found this great tool thatautomatically turns my Alexa's Bad Breath to Fresh Breath Blog into an email in your inbox. That means that every time I update, you get the information in email.

This works great because not everyone understands RSS, Atom and XML. Only a fraction of US Internet users knowingly use RSS subscriptions and know what it is. If I don't provide an alternative mechanism for users to subscribe to my content, I could be missing out on reaching over 80% of my potential audience.

I inserted the form at the top right side of the blog (just over there-->). All you have to do is insert your name and hit the subscribe button. The tool is powered by a company called Feedblitz. They have a comprehensive privacy policy that is strictly adhered to.

I love finding tools that help me keep my information current and to keep in constant contact. This is why I love what I do! I hope you love it too!

New Email Update for my Bad Breath to Fresh Breath Blog
You can find out more about lots more by visiting my www.cure-badbreath.com

M. That is not necessarily the case.

You may have cupped your hands and blown into them to try and determine if your breath smells, but that does not work because your body will naturally acclimatize to its own odor. This is necessary so that the sensory system will recognize odors that are external to the body.

If this is the case, then you need to look at external symptoms:

Do you experience nasal drip?

Do you have allergies?

Do you have a chronic dry mouth?

Do you experience a sour taste in your mouth?

Do you have a coating on your tongue?

Do your friends offer you gum or breath mints?

Do strangers turn their heads away when you speak?

These may sound very basic questions but if you answered yes to any of them there is a good probability that you have a problem with bad breath. If you answered any of them with "I don't know," you need to become pro-active and observe if any of the conditions apply to your situation.

Stay with me. Let's review the main points that we have discussed.

You have an overview of bad breath where we discussed the definition of halitosis bad breath

You have a list of common causes of bad breath

You now have a list of common symptoms of bad breath

And you have all of my rantings in between

So now we can move forward in our discussions on preventing bad breath halitosis. Is it really possible? Depends on how much you are willing to change your lifestyle and choices.
If you have any questions about bad breath symptoms, please do not hesitate to post your comments below or visit my website www.cure-badbreath.com
You can find out more about lots more by visiting my www.cure-badbreath.com

M. Once we understand the various causes, we can identify the symptoms and the treatment.

Food or beverages.
I will devote a whole section on this in another blog.

Foreign body in the nose.
Do you have small children that like to put in their nose? This is a situation that requires immediate treatment to prevent serious consequences.

Gum disease/Gingivitis.
This is inflammation of the soft tissue surrounding the teeth. This condition is much more serious than an abscess. Gingivitis is the precursor to periodontitis which is extreme gum disease that can ultimately lead to tooth loss.

Hepatic encephalopathy.
This is a rare but possible cause as a result of liver disease.

Impacted tooth.
An impacted tooth is one that is prevented from reaching their proper position by tissue, bone or another tooth. It often results in infection, which we know is another cause of bad breath.

Periodontal disease.
A poll in 2000 determined that 60% of adults over 35 knew little or nothing about gum disease! A tragedy when you consider that gum disease is the leading factor in tooth loss, even healthy teeth.

Your teeth can appear to be healthy and disease free, when under the surface gum disease can stalwartly march on creating a condition that will ultimately lead to serious tooth loss. Bad breath is a “red flag” to help determine if this problem is prevalent in your mouth.

Healthy gum tissue forms a shallow groove at the point where the tooth meets the gum line. This disease occurs when the anaerobic, sulfur producing bacteria we discussed earlier, become trapped beneath the gum line.

This is a perfect breeding ground for the bacteria and they will settle in and take residence.
Not recognizing and dealing with the problem will result in serious dental problems up to and including loss of teeth and even underlying bone disease.

Pharyngitis.
This is an inflammation in the area at the back of the mouth known as the Pharynx as usually occurs because of a virus.

This is the same area where you begin to feel a slight “scratchiness” at the onset of a cold or flu. The bacteria involved can lead to more serious streptococcus, commonly known as “strep throat.” If it progresses it can be highly contagious and because it is bacterial it will produce bad breath.

Poor dental hygiene.
We have discussed some of the leading causes of bad breath, but nothing matches poor dental hygiene as a leading cause of bad breath.

Lack of brushing, flossing and regular checkups are the most important weapon for ridding oneself of bad breath and preventing more serious conditions from developing.

Sinusitis.
This is an inflammation of the sinuses, with or without pus and can cause a terribel taste in the mouth in addition to bad breath.

Tobacco smoking.
Tobacco smoking encourages growth of bacteria by drying the mouth. As we discussed in the previous blog, dry mouth is one of the leading causes of bad breath.

Zenker's diverticulum.
This is not a “common” cause, but does exist and can be very serious if not treated. It involves the perforation of the esophageal mucous membrane and does cause bad breath.
You can find out more about lots more by visiting my www.cure-badbreath.com

M. This list is fairly inclusive so I will break this into multiple parts...

Abscessed tooth.
Infection of the tissue surrounding a tooth that usually fills with pus which has a very smelly odor.

Alcoholism.
Immoderate use of alcohol causes decreased production of saliva causing dryness of the mouth. Dry mouth is a leading cause of bad breath.

Atrophic rhinitis.
This is an inflammation of the nasal mucous membrane usually a result of nasal drip due to colds or sinusitis.

Cancers.
Cancers such as esophageal, pharyngeal, oral tumors, leukemia, pulmonary and stomach cancer all present severe bad breath due to the decay that is taking place. Additionally, the medical treatments for these cancers, such as chemotherapy and radiation can exacerbate bad breath both during and after treatment is finished. (Having personally gone thru this, I will dedicate a blog to this in the future).

Oral Candida.
This is a fungal infection of the mouth cavity. Also known as thrush, it is fairly common among infants, diabetics, chemotherapy patients and people with HIV or AIDS.

Cavities.
These holes in the outer two layers of a tooth contain decay which in turn produces bad breath.

Dentures.
Dentures are prosthetic replacements for natural teeth and are just as susceptible to the build up of plaque which causes bad breath. Denture wearers also have a tendency toward dry mouth which also increases the risk of bad breath.

Diabetes.
People who have diabetes may also have bad breath. This occurs because of poor control of blood sugar, the problem with most diabetics. Gum disease is a problem for diabetics. And, diabetes is a problem for people with gum disease.

It can be difficult to determine which comes first, the diabetes or the gum disease, but the underlying problem is clear. High blood sugar contributes to gum disease. Diabetics have trouble controlling the high blood sugar. Gum disease is a leading cause of bad breath, hence the correlation.

The American Dental Association reports that people with type 1 diabetes 5 are at greater risk for gingivitis.

Drugs.
Certain drugs such as antihistamines, antidepressants, blood pressure meds, steroids, cancer therapy drugs, diuretics and oral contraceptives are all known to increase the propensity for bad breath as well as an increased risk for gum disease.

Dry mouth.
Sounds like such an innocent little phrase, doesn’t it? Thought to be a leading cause of bad breath, dry mouth occurs when saliva production is reduced and carries its own nasty little package of problems.

The medical term for dry mouth is “xerostomia” (pronounced ZEER-oh-STOH-mee-ah). Saliva performs vital work in your body. It aids in digestion by using the enzymes to help break up different foods and also makes it easier to talk.

You may not realize that it can also help to prevent tooth decay by rinsing away food particles from between the teeth as well as the gums. Saliva also helps you taste the food you eat and makes it easier for you to swallow that food. It is also known for neutralizing any damaging acids.

It is believed to be caused primarily by certain medications which we listed in the previous paragraph. The symptoms of dry mouth can include:

· Dry, rough tongue
· Poor sense of taste
· Burning sensation in your mouth
· Increased plaque
· Reduced saliva production

Alzheimer’s disease, AIDS and stroke are also attributed to causing dry mouth as well as pregnancy and/or hormonal changes due to menopause.

Increasing fluid intake can help to re-hydrate the mouth. It’s important to keep it moist so you don’t lose all the benefits provided by saliva production.

Enough? Just reviewing the A thru D list above, I have experienced at least 3 causes of bad breath in my lifetime. Boy, I wonder what the rest of the list holds for me? And how about you?

I am sure now it is easy to see that bad breath really is a common issue and no one should feel embarrassed or ashamed of this condition.

My next entry will include more from the list of bad breath causes.

Have a great day!

Alexa Peters
You can find out more about lots more by visiting my www.cure-badbreath.com

M. You really need to make sure that they have some credentials and/or experience in this area.

Personally, I have an interest because I have had to fight it for so many years. But I do not claim to be an expert! I just act as a facilitator so that you can find information and products.

One of the experts that I have found is Dr. Harold Katz. He has written an amazing book about bad breath especially for those of us not in the medical or dental field. He breaks the information into understandable bites and provides some recommendations and solutions that I think are pretty noteworthy.

I have a link on my site where you can download his book for FREE. Just click on the link and scroll down just a bit : Bad Breath Treatment

From time to time, I will review experts in the treatment of bad breath.

Ok, in my next entry, we will get back to the education of all the causes of bad breath. If you need to find information right away (like today). Click on the link and it will take you to my website where I have gathered a wealth of information: Causes of Bad Breath.

Have a great day!

Alexa

Bad Breath Expert - Harold Katz
You can find out more about lots more by visiting my www.cure-badbreath.com

M. I love Fridays. And I especially love Fridays in the springtime!

What is your fresh breath practice? How do you fight bad breath?

Here is my secret weapon to fight bad breath: Water - lots of it. Keep lots of it in your car, desk, and bedside. Instead of reaching for a

sweetened drink which WILL cause a negative chemical reaction with the bacteria in your mouth - see my previous entry - reach for a glass or bottle of water. Not only will it help you in keeping your mouth fresh, but your skin and internal organs will love you for it!

Sure there are lots of other products on the market that are also helpful and eventually, we will discuss them here. Or you can visit my cure-badbreath.com website and see them now. But I want you to understand the importance in drinking water in your treatment for bad breath.

Have a great weekend!

Alexa
You can find out more about lots more by visiting my www.cure-badbreath.com

M. We all have these bacteria in our mouth. And these bacteria remain inactive until some action in their environment cause them to change.

When the bacteria reactes to changes in their environment produce chemical compounds. And these compounds smell and taste terrible.

Quite simple when you understand it, right? It is the change the causes bad breath. And now that we understand what bad breath is, we can now understand why there is no generic cause or treatment.

In my next post, I want to provide a thorough understnading of the causes and symptoms of bad breath.

As always, I welcome your comments and feedback.
You can find out more about lots more by visiting my www.cure-badbreath.com

M.
